This project required brand storytelling through tactile product design, high-impact visuals, and digital engagement strategies that resonated with both loyal OMNIA users and nationwide fans of Marilyn Monroe. Throughout the process, I provided creative leadership — guiding the product development, maintaining art direction, and managing brand standards for print and digital assets and content creation across social platforms.
PRODUCT & PACKAGING DESIGN
The challenge was to infuse Marilyn’s classic glamour into the very form of a makeup brush set and its' presentation. I chose elements that reflect Marilyn’s signature look and brand, like her platinum-blonde hair, as well as the proposed luxury/collector's item value.
Designing a bespoke zippered carrying case and an elegant collector’s box was important to extend the glamour of the product into the unboxing experience, which I knew would attract customers when featured in videos. The carrying case is a showpiece on its own – made of plush faux-velvet in a soft platinum-blonde hue to match the brush bristles, accented with a gold metal zipper. Unzipping it reveals a bold, red vinyl interior reminiscent of Marilyn’s signature lipstick shade.
The outer box – a “classy collector’s box” – was designed for visual impact and safekeeping. It's wrapped in textured, deep red paper, giving a luxurious feel to the touch, and emblazoned with gold-embossed logos. The box uses a hidden magnetic clasp closure, which not only provides a satisfying snap when opening and closing, but also speaks to the premium quality of the set.
